The story of Reiki started in Japan as a way to connect with the energy, called "Ki," that flows through all living things.

The idea spread that by channeling these rays from the universe, we could boost our own vitality.

Today, Reiki is used all over the world to help people ease stress and improve their feeling of wellness.

  • Reiki is a natural energy healing practice that promotes relaxation, reduces stress, and supports the body's self-healing abilities. It works by balancing your energy and can be deeply calming and restorative.

    Reiki means life-force energy that is guided by the universe. Or spiritually guided life-energy. There are a few different translations.

  • Reiki energy healing can support you in many ways, including reducing stress, promoting emotional balance, aiding recovery from burnout, and enhancing overall wellbeing. It’s a gentle and safe way to realign your energy and bring a sense of peace.

  • Reiki is a safe and natural treatment and can be used in many situations to bring relaxation, relief, and restoration. In fact, I find it helps me in almost any situation!

    Many people use it for:

    • managing chronic conditions

    • stress reduction

    • pain relief

    • post-operative care

    • emotional support

    • support during life transitions

    • personal growth

    • end of life care

    It doesn’t offer a remedy for any condition or substitute medical care, but it makes a great addition to wellness routines and is safe and natural.

    Reiki can be used in any situation or wellness stage. It’s still best to check with your medical practitioner if you have any concerns however.

    Some NHS Hospitals are now using Reiki alongside medical care and finding that it improves patient satisfaction by reducing anxiety and symptoms.

  • We need more studies to prove the benefits of Reiki, but many people find it most helpful for:

    • relaxation

    • stress reduction

    • improving sleep

    • reducing pain

    • emotional support and self-growth.

  • The benefits of Reiki haven’t been tested or proved in large-scale clinical trials and existing research is limited.

    Reiki is being used in medical settings increasingly.

    The main findings in small scale case settings seem to have found Reiki for for relieving pain, decreasing anxiety/depression, and improving qualify of life in several conditions.

    It is generally concluded that Reiki is safe and at worst would do nothing but not cause harm. There is growing support that Reiki is more effective than placebo effect.

  • Reiki is a Japanese word that can be translated in a few different ways!

    Rei” = soul, life, spirit, mysterious, pure

    Ki” = mind, energy, invisible life force, vital energy connected to breath.

    I like to think of it as life force energy guided by the soul or universe.

  • Reiki originates from Japan and was developed into the Reiki system over 100 years ago by Mikao Usui.

    It is based on the concept of universal life energy and is used to promote balance, healing, and relaxation.

    Usui developed Reiki after a spiritual experience on Mount Kurama, where he gained insight into how energy could be used to heal. He then created a system of energy healing that could be taught to others. Reiki was later introduced to the West through Hawayo Takata, a Japanese-American woman who trained in Japan and brought the practice to the United States in the 1930s.

    Since then, Reiki has evolved into different styles, including Usui Reiki, Holy Fire® III Reiki, and Karuna® Reiki, which I am trained in. Despite its evolution, Reiki remains deeply rooted in its traditional Japanese origins. I practice and am trained in a style that is closely connected with the Japanese founder.

  • ​You do not need to hold any specific beliefs to experience the benefits of Reiki. This is an energy field practice that works with your body's natural ability to heal and restore balance.

    The founder, Mikao Usui, was a Buddhist, however today Reiki is widely used as a stress-reduction technique and you do not need to believe in anything.

    Many people, regardless of their personal beliefs, find Reiki to be a deeply relaxing and restorative experience. The effectiveness of Reiki does not depend on your belief in it, and it can be beneficial even if you approach it with an open but neutral mindset. ​

    I do believe in the role of spiritual wellness in our overall wellness, but we can find connection in anything - our minds, in nature, or the stars and the universe.
